By using Kids Go Out, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account and use Kids Go Out, you provide us with:

  • Account Information: Email address, name
  • Family Profile Information:
    • Children's information (names, birthdates/ages)
    • Home location (city, state, ZIP code, or address)
    • Activity preferences (budget range, max drive time, activity categories)
  • User-Generated Content:
    • Chat messages and conversations with our AI assistant
    • Activities you save or mark as visited
    • Feedback and ratings you provide

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the App, we automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Features used, interaction patterns, session duration and frequency, search queries and conversation history
  • Location Data: Precise location (GPS) when enabled, approximate location from IP address, user-provided location
  • Performance Data: App crashes, errors, and diagnostic information

1.3 Information from Third Parties

We receive data from:

  • OpenAI: Processes your chat messages to generate activity recommendations
  • Google Places API: Provides activity information, photos, ratings, and reviews
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple authentication (if you choose this option)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide Services: Deliver activity recommendations, manage your account, power AI chat features
  • Personalization: Customize content based on preferences, improve recommendation accuracy
  • Communication: Send notifications, respond to support inquiries
  • Improvement: Analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, develop new features
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with laws, respond to legal requests, protect rights and safety

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

3.1 Service Providers

We share data with trusted third parties:

  • Supabase: Backend database and authentication (based in US)
  • OpenAI: AI chat processing (API calls only, data not retained by OpenAI)
  • Google: Activity data and maps (Google Places API)
  • Firebase: Push notifications (Google/Firebase Cloud Messaging)

3.2 We DO NOT Share Your Data For:

  • Advertising or marketing to third parties
  • Selling or renting your personal information
  • Tracking you across other apps or websites

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Kids Go Out is designed for parents and caregivers, not children. We:

  • Do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
  • Store children's information (names, ages) only as provided by verified parents
  • Do not share children's information with third parties for marketing
  • Allow parents to review, edit, or delete children's information

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data (Settings → Privacy & Data → Export Data)
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information (Settings → Edit Profile)
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account)
  • Opt-Out: Disable analytics tracking (Settings → Privacy & Data → Opt out of analytics)
  • Location: Disable location services in iOS Settings
  • Notifications: Disable push notifications in app or iOS Settings

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Secure authentication (JWT tokens, Sign in with Apple)
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Row Level Security (RLS) in our database

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active
  • After Account Deletion: 30-day grace period, then permanently deleted
  • Aggregated/Anonymized Data: May be retained indefinitely for analytics
  • Legal Requirement: May retain data longer if required by law

8. International Users

Kids Go Out operates in the United States. If you access the App from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you're a California resident, you have additional rights:

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to delete personal information
  • Right to opt-out of sale of personal information (We do not sell your information)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

10. European Users (GDPR)

If you're in the EEA/UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, data portability, and objection to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the App with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
